Amid escalating conflict in West Asia, senior defence officials from India and Israel held discussions to review the latest developments. On Wednesday, Defence Secretary of India Rajesh Kumar Singh received a call from Major General (Res.) Amir Baram, Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defence. The Israeli official shared an update on the evolving situation in the region.

India’s Ministry of Defence posted on social media that the conversation took place to exchange information regarding the ongoing developments. The call comes in the context of rising hostilities between Israel and Iran.

As the conflict entered its seventh day on Thursday, both sides continued to engage in strikes. Reports indicate that Israeli air forces are conducting multiple aerial operations in Tehran and other regions in Iran. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that air defence systems were activated across key areas, including the capital.

The escalation follows Israel’s launch of “Operation Rising Lion” on June 13, targeting Iranian military and nuclear infrastructure. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had described the operation as a critical step to eliminate what he called an existential threat from Iran, vowing to continue the campaign “for as many days as it takes.”

In retaliation, Iran initiated “Operation True Promise 3,” with the IRGC launching a large-scale drone and missile attack targeting Israeli fighter jet fuel facilities and key energy infrastructure. Iranian media reported that over 585 people have been killed and more than 1,300 injured as a result of Israeli strikes. On the Israeli side, at least 24 deaths and several hundred injuries have been reported due to Iranian missile attacks.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump convened a situation room meeting to review American options. Although he did not confirm whether military action against Iran would be taken, Trump stated, “I have a plan for everything… anything could happen.” He also expressed disappointment over Iran’s failure to negotiate, suggesting that an opportunity for a deal had been missed.

The current standoff has heightened international concern, with several nations closely monitoring developments. India’s dialogue with Israel reflects its ongoing engagement with regional stakeholders amid growing instability in West Asia.
